Homeschool Co-op Donates Canned Goods to Area Food Bank PDF Print E-mail

A few Academy Days Co-op students delivered canned goods collected at orientation to W.E.L.C.O.M.E. Inc. in Millbrook in February. About 175 cans were donated to the food bank serving families in need residing in West Elmore County.

Alternative Exam To ACT and SAT Endorsed by HSLDA and National Home School Honor Society PDF Print E-mail

The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) and National Home School Honor Society now accept the CLT as an admission standard. The CLT is a college entrance exam developed for faith-based educators and accurately reflects the college readiness of these students that choose an alternative education apart from Common Core Standard curricula.

Home School Students Now Allowed To Play Sports in Public Schools PDF Print E-mail

It’s official: Home-school athletes can begin playing Alabama high school sports. The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Legislative Council approved a new measure April 12 allowing home-school, charter school and virtual school students to play high school sports at the public school for which they are zoned.

New Alabama Graduation Requirements Still Not Mandatory for Homeschoolers PDF Print E-mail

The Alabama Board of Education changed the graduation requirements for high schoolers who started as 9th graders in 2013-14 or after. However, these requirements are for public school students, not homeschoolers. According to Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), homeschooling parents may choose any courses for their high school students, and they will not be limited in college admission, financial aid or military acceptance.
